All Flinders staff are entitled to 20 working days of recreation leave per year.
Before Christmas a loading of 17.5% of salary is paid on leave accrued during the year.
Long service leave is accrued at the rate of 6.5 working days per completed year of service and is available to be taken after 7 years of service.
Prior continuous paid service is recognised within other Australian higher education institutions, or other bodies approved by Flinders' governing body, University Council.
52 weeks of primary carer/adoption leave is available which comprises 25 weeks paid leave and 27 weeks unpaid leave. This may be extended for a further 12 months unpaid parental leave. Up to 15 days per year personal and carer's leave is available to cover personal illness or injury or to provide care and support for an immediate family member who is ill, injured or affected by an unexpected emergency.
Two days compassionate leave is available per occasion of either the death of a family member, or when a family member contracts, develops or sustains life-threatening illness or injury.
Up to five days leave per calendar year are available for family, cultural or other special reasons.
You may purchase up to 20 business days of additional leave per year in addition to your annual leave entitlement.
Our Outside Studies Program (OSP) is available to academic staff available for carrying out sustained scholarly activity or gaining professional experience outside university. Overseas conference leave is also available for academic staff who are invited to make substantial contributions to overseas conferences of significant importance.
Study Assistance Scheme
Out Study Assistance Scheme gives Professional staff up to 6 hours per week to attend approved courses during normal business hours.
MBA
Flinders University staff can apply for a 30% course discount for the redesigned Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses, as well as the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma of Business Administration.
