The Master of Engineering Science gives you a comprehensive understanding of all of the theories – natural, physical, material, and mathematical – that make up the engineering industry ecosystem.
You’ll learn the skills to investigate, plan, design, manufacture and maintain engineering systems and equipment in a range of areas. In addition to being taken as a stand-alone degree, it can also be used as a pathway to Flinders' accredited Master of Engineering degrees.

Because Engineering Science teaches graduates an incredibly varied, interdisciplinary skill-set, they can apply their combined engineering, science, and maths abilities to almost every industry – biotech, nanoscience, mining, medicine, government, construction, manufacturing, materials development, etc. You will also be able to apply your skillset to varied roles such as research project planning, data analysis, robotics designer, high-level management roles, and engineering if you use the degree as a pathway.
The first year will see you learn Engineering Mathematics, Advanced Professional Skills, and Engineering Materials and Systems. You’ll also have the opportunity to select from a range of Majors that focus on a particular aspect of Engineering – Biomedical, Electrical and Electronic, Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical.
The second year will focus on the Masters Project, with extra subjects in Engineering Management, Systems Engineering, and extra subjects from your selected Major.
