The Inspire Mentor Program connects primary and secondary students with mentors who empower mentees to consider higher education as an option for their future.

Our mentors are reliable role models who support engagement in learning, social and emotional wellbeing and academia.

Inspire Mentor Program has collaborated with up to 100 schools (metro and regional SA), FLO sites and community organisations.

Why your school should join the Inspire Mentor Program

Mentors are interviewed, DCSI screened, RAN-EC trained and Inspire Mentor trained.
Schools are given freedom to chose students who may benefit from mentoring relationships.
Mentors are matched with students from Years 6 to 12.
Students who participate in the program have increased attendance, increased confidence and motivation, and raised aspirations for their future.
Mentors become a reliable role model in the lives of their mentees who can provide encouragement, motivation and a ‘listening ear’.

What does your school need to participate in the program?

There are some essential commitments required from any school site or community organisation that would like to host Inspire mentors. The Inspire Mentor Program team asks that schools provide:

Commitment to mentoring from leadership and support staff.

School leadership support to promote the program with students, parent and staff.

Support for students to be absent from lessons to attend weekly sessions.

Feedback for program evaluation and review.

Space for mentoring to take place.

A nominated staff member to:

induct mentors within a timely manner and offer ongoing supervision
liaise regularly with Inspire Mentor Program staff
notify the mentor if their mentee is unable to attend their scheduled mentoring session
lead the referral and consent process for identified students.
