The Flinders University City Gallery at the State Library of South Australia continues to attract new and large audiences to its dynamic exhibition program.
Having a North Terrace Adelaide location as part of the State Library has raised the university's visibility and accessibility.
The exhibitions change every 6-8 weeks, with the new and expanded space allowing a more diverse range to be presented for the enjoyment of all South Australians and visitors to our state.
Some highlights have included Masterpieces from the Hinton Collection and the outstanding retrospective exhibition from the National Gallery of Australia No Ordinary Place: the art of David Malangi . These exhibitions would not normally come to South Australia. By bringing such prestigious events to Adelaide, the City Gallery is making a significant contribution to the cultural life of the city.
In 2006 the City Gallery reflected Flinders' 40th Anniversary celebrations and focused on the university's extensive collection, and as part of the Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts, the Gallery showed Highlights of the Venice Biennale .
