About the Program

Flinders University is the only university in Australia that offers a professional development pathway for educators and others interested in Studies of Asia from introductory level through to mastery level.

All Studies of Asia Professional Development Program courses have a dual focus:

  • extending knowledge of aspects of Asian societies and cultures
  • developing and refining teaching and learning strategies in the light of relevant curriculum

To facilitate learner access, principal delivery modes include face-to-face intensive mode, distance mode and in-country mode.


Introductory Level:

Advance Level: Graduate Certificate in Education (Studies of Asia)

Mastery Level: Master of Education (Studies of Asia)

 

 

Studies of Asia Postgraduate Program

This articulated program is designed for practising teachers, advisory personnel and school curriculum leaders. The underlying rationale for these courses is the increasing importance of the Asian region, locally and globally, and hence the critical need for studies of Asia to be included in school teaching and learning programs at all levels.

Advanced Level: Graduate Certificate in Education (Studies of Asia)

Mastery Level: Master of Education (Studies of Asia)

 

Graduate Certificate in Education (Studies of Asia)

To complete this award, students must complete:

4x Studies of Asia postgraduate study topics; OR
2x Postgraduate topics

 

Master of Education (Studies of Asia)

The number of study topics required to complete this award will depend upon the level of credit applicable, but some standard scenarios include:

Application

If you decide to proceed with either the Graduate Certificate in Education (Studies of Asia) or the Master of Education (Studies of Asia), applications are made via GradStart.


To apply follow these three steps.

  • Visit the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC) website at http://www.satac.edu.au/pages/university-postgraduate
  • Click on 'Apply' to begin your application.
  • Submit your application. You will be sent a confirmation email. SATAC charges a fee for processing applications (around $49).


Once you're admitted, you will be able to enrol in your chosen study topic(s) online via the Flinders website.
