Inspiring courses

Flinders is offering a range of new inspiring courses from 2009.

If you are interested in studying Digital Media, the Media, International Tourism, Engineering, Environmental Health or Computer Science we have new undergraduate pathways available. For graduates we are launching a new Master of Teaching, Master of Accountancy and Master of Business Administration.  Find out more below.

Bachelor of Computer Science

The Bachelor of Computer Science (SATAC code: 214821) will provide students with a strong theoretical understanding and practical experience in the study and creation of computational systems, including operating systems, networks, databases, graphics, bioinformatics, data security and artificial intelligence.

Bachelor of Science in Computing and Digital Media

The Bachelor of Science in Computing and Digital Media (SATAC code: 214831) prepares students for the growing convergence of computer science and digital media, including animation, computer games, computer graphics and information visualisation.

Bachelor of Media

Flinders is also introducing an exciting new Bachelor of Media, building on Flinders strengths within the Creative Arts and Public Affairs. This new degree will have two streams: Public Affairs (SATAC code: 214861) and Creative Arts (SATAC code: 214851), preparing graduates for media related careers in the public and private sectors.

Bachelor of International Tourism

The Bachelor of International Tourism (SATAC code: 214841) builds on our strong Tourism expertise. With three streams to choose from: Cultural Tourism, Festival and Event Design and Management or the Non-specialised stream, students can target their qualification to better prepare themselves for their future careers - wherever that may take them.

Bachelor of Health Sciences/Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health Practice

The Bachelor of Health Sciences/Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health Practice (SATAC code: 214871) replaces the Bachelor of Environmental Health. Students enrolling in this pathway will be guaranteed a place in the Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health Practice on successful completion of the Bachelor of Health Sciences. Students will be required to successfully complete one semester full-time (18 units or equivalent) in basic sciences such as chemistry, physics, microbiology, physiology and life sciences for automatic entry to the Graduate Diploma.

Environmental Health is concerned with the effects of environmental factors on the health and well-being of people, including indoor and outdoor air quality, waste management, water quality for consumption and recreation, stormwater management and water reuse, contaminated land, infectious disease and food quality and hygiene.

Master of Teaching (Graduate entry)

Our new Master of Teaching will enable graduates with other degrees to obtain a Teaching qualification. The courses build on prior learning and develop advanced professional knowledge, practice and relationship skills relevant to teaching. The Master of Teaching offers you an advanced qualification that explores the theories and practices of teaching and learning and the context of the young learner. By undertaking a range of learning experiences, you will build the expertise and knowledge that you need for teaching.

Master of Accounting

The Flinders Master of Accounting fulfills the requirements to commence a professional accounting career. It provides a pathway for non-accounting graduates seeking to transition into the areas of business, accounting and finance.

Master of Business Administration

Flinders Business School offers an innovative new MBA in 2009.  The Flinders MBA consists of core business content plus a specialisation or general electives. Specialisations are available in Health, Education, Biotechnology, International Business, Finance or Tourism.

Graduate study in Geographical Information Systems (GIS)

GIS is a computer-based system capable of integrating, editing, sharing, modelling and displaying geographically referenced information. The Graduate Certificate (Gradstart code 2GC083) provides both a stand-alone program for the purposes of mid-career development, as well as an entry point into more advanced studies in the Graduate Diploma in Geographical Information Systems (Gradstart code 2GD067). Students will learn skills that are applicable to a range of areas such as urban and regional planning, infrastructure management, transportation, the environment, biological sciences, biodiversity management and archaeology.
