Emma Kent, School of Chemical and Physical Sciences

I chose Flinders University when I left school as it was the only institute in SA to offer a specialised course for forensic science. I was lucky to be surrounded by expert academics, supportive tutors and friendly classmates for the duration of my undergraduate and honours degrees, and I enjoyed the taste of research so much that I decided to apply for my PhD. My first few months of my PhD have been a big learning curve as I’m discovering quickly that research doesn’t always go as planned, but I’m lucky to have such a supportive environment at Flinders. Competing in the 3MT was a great opportunity to meet with students from all disciplines and stages of their PhD, and I was honoured to be chosen to represent Flinders in the Asia-Pacific finals.
