Welcome to the Department of History

The History Department is one of Flinders University’s foundation departments, established with the University itself in 1966.

Over more than four decades the History Department has established an impressive record in teaching and research, with strengths in Australian, European and international history.

Prospective undergraduate students will find an enticing array of topics and courses through to Honours level. Suitably qualified postgraduate students may enrol in the Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Applied History and Heritage Studies or in Research Higher Degrees at the Masters or PhD level. Highly qualified staff offer supervision and research experience across many areas.

The History Department is the home of the Flinders Journal of History and Politics and of a regular weekly research seminar series open to members of the general public.
