Welcome to International Relations

In the world of the twenty-first century, the discipline of International Relations studies global politics and economics, security and military strategy, and national societies and cultures. It seeks to understand relationships within the international system and global community that made the modern world.

International Relations introduces you to issues of peace and war and why the international system always seems to lurch between order to disorder. In particular, we are interested in explaining how global trends have shaped, and continue to shape, Australia’s place in the world.

The discipline is committed to giving students the knowledge and skills to find employment in the public or private sectors, whether it is in a government department pursuing national interest, a company operating on the global stage, or a non-government organisation committed to a global cause.
