Australian Women's Weekly

An index of the Australian Women's Weekly for 1946, 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966 and 1971 was produced by Women's Studies staff during the 1990's and was available to be searched through this website. The Index was part of a larger research project and was conducted as a preliminary task to the writing of a cultural analysis of the Australian Women's Weekly over the period 1946-71, which resulted in the book, Who Was That Woman? The Australian Women's Weekly in the Postwar Years, by Susan Sheridan, with Barbara Baird, Kate Borrett and Lyndall Ryan (Unversity of New South Wales Press, 2002).

Many people found our index invaluable for academic and/or family research! Our index has been superceded by a National Library of Australia project. The NLA has digitised the Australian Women's Weekly from it's inception until December 1982. All issues up until that time can be searched and browsed on line from the NLA's website http://www.nla.gov.au/australianwomensweekly.html.
