Dr Gobert Lee, Dr Mariusz Bajger and Associate Professor Murk Bottema, together with Dr Martin Caon from the School of Nursing and Midwifery, have won $75,000 to undertake a study in Paediatric Anatomy Modelling and Radiation Dose Calculation for Minimising Radiation Dose to Children from CT Examinations.  This is one of three grants for Flinders University awarded as part of a $1.25m grant funding round offered by the Channel 7 Children's Research Foundation.

CT is a valuable and, at times,  life-saving tool for diagnosing illness and injury in children. With children sensitive to radiation, dose minimization is crucial. Current practice of child dose calculation is based on adult anatomical models and CT machines in the 1990s. This project aims to develop a series of advanced paediatric anatomy models for accurate dose calculation, thus better facilitate clinical decisions in minimizing radiation doses to children.
