By engaging students across a range of disciplines with First Nations knowledges, perspectives and lived experiences, the artworks transform ways of seeing, feeling, and understanding the shared histories of Australia’s recent past.
With your support, FUMA's collections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artwork will continue to be an incredibly important resource for current and future generations of students, researchers and the wider community.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, FUMA was able to purchase eight artworks from its 2023 exhibition, mane djang karirra: the place where the dreaming changed shape.
Curated with Maningrida Arts and Culture, these significant works showcase the recent rise and recognition of women in the painting traditions of central and western Arnhem Land.
The artists are dedicated to upholding the knowledge, language and culture of their ancestors, while venturing into new artistic frontiers.
Thanks to donor support the remarkable voices and stories of a new generation of women artists of Arnhem Land will be preserved for current and future generations.
If you share our mission of expanding cultural understanding and reconciliation, please make a donation today.
100% of your tax-deductible donation will support the Flinders University Museum of Art collections.
FUMA is registered to receive gifts of artworks through the Australian Government Cultural Gifts Program and we are very grateful to receive pieces that align with our Collections Policy. Please contact FUMA Director Fiona Salmon fiona.salmon@flinders.edu.au or +61 8 8201 2531.
