FUMA promotes museum-based teaching and learning and welcomes engagements with University students and staff including through structured class-based activity, internships and volunteering.
We also accommodate school visits, special interest groups and life-long learners, and can tailor packages to meet interests and needs.
Flinders University Museum of Art is working in partnership with staff across the University to bring the collections to the core of teaching practice. Employing object-based learning (OBL) as a model, our work is contributing to emerging pedagogy in this area internationally.
Comprising over 8,000 objects, the FUMA collections constitute a unique and valuable educational resource. They offer myriad starting points to deepen engagement with discipline-specific knowledge as well as opportunities to enhance transferable skills such as observation, communication and critical and creative thinking.
Explore the Object-based Learning Toolkit for information and ideas on how to bring art to teaching and learning.
