Open Art Studio
FUMA’s new pop-up project puts creativity in your hands. Whether you're a student or a staff member, this initiative is here to spark your creativity and offer a space on campus to connect through art making.
At Open Art Studio, we bring Flinders University alumni artists to guide you through techniques of artistic expression. The artist-led workshops will pop up at various locations like Flinders Connect, Law Court, Sturt and more. Wherever you are, we'll be visiting to ignite your imagination and encourage creative experimentation.
FUMA believes art can inspire a new understanding of the world around us and we're committed to enriching the learning experiences of students. We look forward to welcoming you to the magic of art at FUMA’s artist-led Open Art Studio!
Open Art Studio is supported by Flinders University Museum of Art and the Wellbeing and Campus Activation Initiative.

Meet the Artists
Oakey
Oakey is an emerging contemporary artist based in Tarntanya (Adelaide) whose practice traverses sculpture, site-specific installations and sound. Currently working out of Central Studios, she uses a range of materials, creating works for both urban and natural environments.
Oakey’s experiences of being fully immersed in an array of natural environments has created a deep fascination in the interconnectedness of the living world and our relationship to it. It is these connections, unseen forces, networks and spaces, on a cellular and cosmic level that she considers in the process of creating her work.
Sam Howie
Sam Howie is an Adelaide-based visual artist and art teacher who works primarily with paint. He holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) from the University of South Australia and a Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) from Flinders University. Howie’s work has been selected for exhibitions within the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art and the Australian Experimental Art Foundation, as well as multiple exhibitions with the Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia. Within art education, Howie is the Team Leader for the Tutti Kids and Youth (TKY) visual art program at TuttiArts, while he is also the co-director of Acacia Bush Pods, an alternative education business which run “bush school” programs for children
