River Journey Program

Presentations or webinars

All presentations can be held on campus at Flinders Bedford Park, Flinders Victoria Square or at your school.

Presentation audience	Presentation content
Year 10 students	An introduction to university, career pathways, pre-post work-experience, year 11 and 12 subjects needed for University and drop-in session for subject selection.
Year 11 students	An introduction to university, research project start-up session, course options, year 12 subjects needed for university, how to research career & study options and drop-in sessions for subject selection.
Year 12 students	Tips on how to get the most out of year 12, life at Flinders (includes a student ambassador presentation and a Flinders Academic guest speaker), course information, adjustment factors, how to apply through SATAC, important dates and pathways. Drop-in sessions are also available.
Tailored presentations	We can tailor a presentation to the needs of your students.
Past students and or parents	We can tailor a presentation for parents or past students.
Pathways	A presentation on different pathways to university and our courses.
Flinders student experience	Information on the student experience presented by a current Flinders student.
For teachers	Whole of staff training (i.e. Uni Myth Buster session or guest speaker on topical issues). New in Careers 1-to-1 session (open to all student in advisory/coordinator roles) Session for PLP teachers
For parents/guardians	Tertiary information evening, career focus: future world of work, introduction to the university application process.
Research project presentation	Introduction to research, creating a question, tips, examples and how Flinders researchers can assist.

River Journey and Campus Experience Program

The River Journey program is designed to raise aspirations of students who are currently underrepresented in Higher Education. Funded by the Australian Government’s Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP), the Education Pathways Team offers a series of presentations and campus experiences designed to encourage students to consider Higher Education, and to examine pathways and opportunities for future success.

Who is eligible?

This program supports schools that have significant levels of students experiencing disadvantage such as low socio-economic (SES), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and rural and remote schools. Contact the Education Pathways Team to determine if your school is eligible.
