Once you have received formal approval of your placement you need to apply for a Working with Children clearance (Ochre Card).
You cannot commence a placement in the NT without being able to produce your Ochre Card prior to the placement start date. If you arriving in the NT to start your placement without your Ochre Card, you will have your placement cancelled and you will be sent home. Flinders NT will not be responsible for any costs incurred as a result of this.
You are advised to apply for your Ochre Card at least 8 weeks before your placement start date.
You will need to be proactive in following up your application with Safe NT if eight weeks passes and you have not received your card. Persistence in following up with them is advised until a response has been received.
International applicants are unable to apply online for an Ochre Card. You must complete a hardcopy application and send via post.
