The archaeology and heritage management program aims to meet the research and professional needs of graduates with an interest in Australian archaeology, archaeological field practice and cultural heritage consultancy. It aims to increase your theoretical knowledge, research skills and applied skills to help you develop the appropriate depth of understanding of issues in a number of related specialisations in archaeology and/or cultural heritage management. The program draws on both theoretical and practical material and provides you with the opportunity to apply both the principles and the practical skills developed during the course.

These courses make you highly qualified for a professional career in archaeology throughout the globe in research, policy development, consulting, hands-on surveying and excavation.
Enrolment in the masters may give eligibility for membership of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand.
Completion of the graduate diploma or masters may give eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Consulting Archaeologists Incorporated.
Choose from a range of archaeology topics in areas such as heritage management, maritime archaeology, rock art, field methods, historical archaeology, Indigenous archaeology, cultural heritage legislation, and forensic archaeology. You may also choose topics from related disciplines such as environmental studies and tourism. In addition, the Master of Archaeology and Heritage Management provides you with the opportunity to complete a substantial independent research project (thesis) with guidance from academic archaeologists.
You will have the opportunity to apply the principles and practical skills developed during the course, including skills and experience in research methods. These include field survey and excavation; laboratory research; archival, historical, and oral history research; community archaeology; and geomatics and digital approaches in archaeology.
