We’re working to create a safe, healthy and sustainable transport network in and around our campuses.

The Flinders Railway Station adds to the well-integrated public transport network available to commuters, with free campus/shuttle buses conveniently connecting people from the station to locations around Bedford Park, Sturt and Tonsley campuses.
Those cycling to campus can lock-up their bikes in one of three secure cages equipped with charging points for e-bikes, end-of-trip facilities and repair stations, at Bedford Park, City Campus and Sturt.
The University has installed 42 EV charging bays at Bedford Park. Jointly funded by the South Australian Government, this initiative forms a key part of a $3.2 million EV Smart Charging Trial. The trial optimizes EV charging using 100% renewable electricity.
At Bedford Park, students, staff and visitors can now charge their EVs or hybrid vehicles in carparks 2, 3, 6, 9 or 14. Find out more about EV parking at Flinders.
In 2023, the University took part in a Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) electric vehicle technology trial, utilising ten of its electric and plug-in hybrid fleet vehicles to power the campus, showcasing Flinders' commitment to decarbonising both transport and campus operations.
The 2030 Sustainability Strategy includes several targets for sustainable commuting and greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions (see sections 2.3 Transport and Principle 2 - Taking Climate Action).
As part of our GHG reporting, the University regularly conducts a university-wide commuter survey to assess emissions and modal split of commuters, to measure against our GHG emissions reduction targets and sustainable commuting targets.
There are plenty of opportunities for our Flinders community to be involved in sustainability on campus.
