A Scholarly Fellow academic appointment is a new category of employment that provides academic career development opportunities and increased job security for eligible applicants. It is intended that the role will encompass elements of teaching and teaching related duties and an opportunity to provide an academic pathway for early career academic staff.
The University will offer Scholarly Fellow academic appointments as convertible appointments of up to three years and if eligible will be converted to continuing. Once the staff member’s appointment is converted, they will no longer be a Scholarly Fellow.
The Flinders University academic promotion policy supports the promotion of academic staff, recognising and rewarding sustained excellence across academic activity.
Continuing and Fixed-Term academic staff (with a min. 3-year cumulative term of appointment) are eligible to apply for promotion. The process provides our academic staff a fair and transparent opportunity to continuously advance their career by demonstrating their successes and contribution to the University’s strategic priorities.
"Experiment and experiment bravely."
— Flinders University founding Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Karmel
