There are many levels of accommodation available in Adelaide, all relatively affordable compared with other Australian capital cities. As you'd expect, accommodation close to the city is generally the most expensive.
Flinders University main Bedford Park campus is located in the South of Adelaide. When considering Adelaide’s southern suburbs the local councils City of Onkaparinga and City of Marion are a wonderful starting point to see what the local area and surrounds have to offer.

To live and work in Australia, you and any dependants will require an Australian Government Visa.
Once you have accepted an offer of employment, Flinders University will, where appropriate, nominate you for either temporary or permanent residency with the Australian Department of Home Affairs. The kind of visa applicable is determined by the type of offer received.
Please note, the processing and approval of visas is managed by the Australian Government and visa conditions and obligations are subject to change.

If you have accepted a position at Flinders University and require a visa to work in Australia, a member of the Recruitment team will get in touch with you to coordinate the process. The Recruitment team will engage a third-party provider to oversee the visa process for both you and the University. The relevant Recruitment Advisor will act as your key point of contact and facilitate all matters with the third-party provider.
Flinders University may also provide visa sponsorship for your partner and dependent children under the age of 21. For visa purposes, any dependent children over the age of 18 must demonstrate that they are financially dependent on you, the primary visa applicant, for financial support and basic needs more than any other person.

Where applicable, Flinders University will pay the Employer Nomination fee and immigration lawyer professional fees. Please note, you will be responsible for some of the costs associated with your visa application and any costs incurred due to immigration requirements associated with undertaking police and medical checks.
If you are granted a temporary visa, you may not be covered by Medicare, Australia’s national health care system. In this instance, you will need to provide proof of having health insurance, suitable for overseas visitors, for the duration of your stay. The University will require evidence of such medical insurance cover prior to the commencement of your appointment.
If you are from a country that has a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement (RHCA) with Australia you may be eligible for Medicare, which provides free access to the public health care system, after you enter Australia.

Flinders University will provide relocation assistance to eligible Academic and Professional staff. An additional contribution will be made for appointees relocating with dependents.
Your relocation assistance will be included in your letter of offer and can be used for the following:
Yes, Flinders University will engage the services of their preferred third-party provider to facilitate the removal process. By engaging with our preferred provider, the University will be invoiced directly, up to the maximum agreed amount as stated in your Employment Agreement. A recruitment advisor will initiate the request on your behalf, and you will be contacted to discuss your relocation requirements.
Yes, you may choose to engage the services of another provider. In this instance, you will be responsible for the coordination of the removal process and will be required to pay any upfront costs. Flinders will reimburse you, up to the agreed maximum amounts stated in your Employment Agreement, on production of your receipts and upon commencement of your employment.
