Creating equity for our frontline students

Stafford and fellow paramedic, Gabe Hicks (BParamedicSc ’16), each donated $2,000 to establish a new scholarship to help new paramedicine students overcome some of the financial challenges they both experienced at the beginning of their Paramedic Science degree.

Each year the Stafford Wulff Paramedicine Scholarship will provide two students with $500 to assist them with the essential costs associated with their studies such uniforms, fitness testing, vaccinations, and diagnostic equipment.

Gabe hopes the scholarship will relive acute financial pressures so that paramedicine students can focus on their studies and grow into capable, compassionate and professional emergency workers.

“It would be easy to attribute my graduation as an achievement due to hard work and determination, but it was also the support I received throughout my degree that enabled me to succeed,” says Gabe.

Paramedics deliver vital health and social care to a diverse range of people, with varied backgrounds throughout the community. Flinders University believes our paramedicine student cohort should also reflect this spectrum of diversity, while also displaying a commitment to achieving their best academically and providing the best possible care to their patients when they enter the profession.
