The Indigenous Admission Scheme is a pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to enter Flinders University if they don’t have the ATAR they need, or if they haven’t studied for a while and don’t meet the usual entry requirements for their chosen course.
As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicant, you have two pathways into the Doctor of Medicine at Flinders University.
If you already have an undergraduate degree but don’t have a valid GAMSAT score, you can apply through the Indigenous Entry Stream (IES).
If you do have a valid GAMSAT score, you can choose to apply either through the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Sub-Quota or through the Indigenous Entry Stream.
The Foundation Program (Indigenous) is a free, 14‑week pathway that helps Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students get ready for university. This will be offered in 2 metro locations in Semester 2, 2026!
Applicants who are eligible to be enrolled in the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) or equivalent, or applicants enrolled in SACE or equivalent in the year they wish to commence this course, are not eligible to apply.

Years 9-12 | 18 June 2026, Bedford Park Campus
Life in the Uni Lane is a one‑day on‑campus program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Years 9–12. Students will take part in hands‑on workshops and get a feel for university life and the study options available at Flinders.

Years Students | August 2026, Bedford Park Campus
Footprints to the Future is a dedicated workshop for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Year 12 students.
Visit our space at our Flinders City Campus, meet our team at Yungkurrinthi, and chat with current students about university pathways, available supports, and what life at Flinders is really like.
Dinner will be provided, and students are encouraged to attend with family members.
Footprints to the Future will be held in August, date to be confirmed.

Indigenous Australian Engineering School at Flinders Tonsley Campus - For High School Students from SA, NT and Victoria in Year 9 - 12
The Indigenous Australian Engineering School (IAES) is a free, hands-on program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students who want to explore engineering, technology and how to make a difference.
New University Students | January 2027
In2Uni Drop-in Days is a program designed to support secondary students in their transition into further studies at university. Multiple sessions are offered to accommodate different schedules. The program will run over the week of 18th January 2026.

There are multiple accommodation options depending on your circumstances. Flinders is the only South Australian University with on-campus accommodation, Flinders Living. Furthermore, Indigenous student support officers can help assist you in the process and link you to independent and government housing options.
Our Flinders footprint stretches across South Australia and the Northern Territory. From Bedford Park to our innovation hub at Tonsley, the Flinders City Campus, and multiple regional and international locations. We also have Yungkurrinthi Student Spaces in both Adelaide and Darwin, giving you support wherever you choose to study.
Once you’re at uni, our deadly team will have your back from day one. We’ll guide you through orientation to help you settle in, and we’ll continue to walk alongside you with study support, opportunities, and encouragement throughout your whole uni journey.
