The Flinders Online Kickstart Scholarship offers a 20% discount on student fees for eligible students enrolling in selected Flinders Online courses. The discount applies for the entire duration of your course, as long as you remain enrolled and meet ongoing eligibility requirements. To be considered, you have until Semester One 2025 to apply for an eligible Flinders Online course. 

Scholarship applicants must:

• be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or permanent humanitarian visa holder; and 
• be commencing the first year of an eligible program at Flinders University*,
• commence in Semester One 2025, and
• remain enrolled in the eligible program and in online topics through to the completion of the online program.

*Students applying with credit should seek advice about their eligibility.

• The scholarship will provide a sponsorship of 20% off the student fee contribution for the length of the program, up to a maximum of six (6) years.  
• For Commonwealth Support Places, the Student Contribution fee is the amount the student must pay or can defer (for HELP loans). Refer to government funding FAQ for more information.
• For full fee-paying places, the Student Contribution is the total amount of the course fees.

Applications open early January 2025; however, depending on what course you apply for, you may have the option to start study in March, August or October 2025. Flinders Online courses have been designed specifically for remote study. Content has been created in bite-sized, interactive sections so you can study at your own pace, and rather than recordings of live lectures, various formats (video, text, interactive activities) have been specifically created to enhance online learning and cater to different learning styles. 

Content is delivered through our purpose-built Learning Management System - FLO (Flinders Learning Online), and includes short instructional videos, discussion forums, assignments, and interactive activities. Various formats (video, text, interactive activities) are used to allow flexibility and cater to different learning requirements.

Regardless of whether you choose to study online or in person, you’ll receive a fully accredited qualification upon graduation. The only difference is that Flinders Online courses are delivered through our purpose-built Learning Management System - FLO (Flinders Learning Online), and includes lectures, discussion forums, assignments, and interactive activities, while in person courses require you to attend classes in person.

Each Flinders Online course is made of 12 modules that can be completed over 12 weeks. The amount of time you need to study may vary, but it’s typically 8 to 15 hours per module (including assessments).

A reliable internet connection and a computer or device capable of accessing FLO (Flinders Learning Online) and completing the assessments is essential. FLO is delivered via Canvas and can be accessed through the Canvas Student App or directly using any web browser. Your computer should have the following capabilities:

• Run a modern browser (Firefox, Safari, Chrome or Microsoft Edge), 
• Run programs to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations, 
• A web camera and headset, or earphones/ headphones with microphone (essential for online and partial on campus topics), 
•  Ability to back up (either using OneDrive or to an external drive).

No, your graduation certificate (Transcript/Parchment) will not indicate whether you studied and completed online or in person.
