What lead you to study at Flinders University?

I decided to study at Flinders University solely because I wanted to like what I was studying and not get caught up and stressed under a theoretical institution. I found Flinders University had a lot of practical “hands-on” work with real-life concepts and notable connections with Industry Partners that ultimately led to my final decision to make the move.

What is your current favourite memory at Flinders, or your favourite lecturer, and why?

The majority of the lecturers at Flinders University are hands-on where they always have an ‘open door’ policy, which makes them very approachable. I have found the whole of the Civil cohort to always be to help me de-pack certain challenges I have faced over the last few years or support me with further opportunities

What three key messages would you tell a high school student who maybe thinking about studying Engineering in the future?

1. Connect with your lecturers and approach them, as it only opens opportunities for you.
   
2. Make friends or you won’t enjoy the degree or find the time to do the work - I mean you might enjoy it, but I know I wouldn’t have pushed myself to keep going without my friends!
   
3. Life has many opportunities, and you don’t know what you are getting into until you try it first. It isn’t your “be-all, end-all” if you don’t like it once you start, you can just change degrees or majors (I changed from Mechanical to Civil, which was a big difference). Life is about asking questions and trying new things take a stab and just do it.
