• Application for selection into the ACD Training Program is advertised in January/February each year for admission into the program for the following year.
• You can apply during PGY 2.
• The trainee selection process is overseen by the Selection Committee who delegates assessment and interviews to representatives from each State Faculty and consumer representatives

• Be registered for medical practice in Australia
• Have permanent residency status in Australia or be permitted to remain in Australia indefinitely; and
• Have completed or be likely to satisfactorily complete a minimum of two years of acceptable postgraduate training (PGY 1 and PGY 2 accredited positions) in a teaching hospital or equivalent recognised by College by the time of commencing the training program.

The Medical Board of Australia requires that all International Medical Graduates (IMGs) apply directly to the Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) for assessment of their comparability to an Australian trained specialist via the Medical Board of Australia’s specialist pathway.

Trainees in the program undertake four years of practical training in accredited clinical settings under the supervision of practicing dermatologists.

Clinical training years 1 to 4 (46 weeks per year) which includes:

• 46 weeks per year. 
• Medical dermatology, including paediatric dermatology.
• Histopathology.
• Procedural Dermatology, including radiotherapy, cosmetic procedures, lasers.
• Contact dermatology.
