Dermatologists are specialist medical doctors who are experts in conditions of the skin, hair, nails, wet areas of mouth and genitalia, and skin cancer.
The Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) is the peak medical college accredited by the Australian Medical Council for the training and professional development of medical practitioners in the specialty of dermatology. Within the College there are several specialised groups trained in the post-Fellowship area, e.g. Mohs’ Micrographic Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology.
The ACD Training Program is a national program with training positions across all 5 states. Training undertaken in the NT is overseen by the South Australian Faculty.

The Medical Board of Australia requires that all International Medical Graduates (IMGs) apply directly to the Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) for assessment of their comparability to an Australian trained specialist via the Medical Board of Australia’s specialist pathway.
Trainees in the program undertake four years of practical training in accredited clinical settings under the supervision of practicing dermatologists.
