The ISS team is the first point of contact for all onshore international students, including those who are studying online due to COVID-19-related travel restrictions, and offers a range of programs supporting your enrolment, study and social life, as well as referring students to services on campus and within the local community.
ISS offers a free Meet and Greet service for new arriving international students and it is either from around the time of their arrival or from the Flinders International Student Orientation onwards that we are in contact with new students to support them during their time at Flinders.
ISS organises a general orientation program for new international students, day and weekend tours throughout the semester, social activities and information sessions.
The ISS team supports international students who are experiencing challenges in adjusting to the Australian academic and living environment, including one-to-one confidential appointments with an International Student Advisor.
Our key role is to provide timely and specialised support to all onshore international students, including those who are studying online due to COVID-19-related travel restrictions, throughout their program of study.
ISS also prepares a range of letters for students which may be required by sponsors, banks, the Department of Home Affairs, and other government departments, both in Australia and abroad.
The preparation of a student’s completion letter is usually the last service ISS provides to international students who have completed their studies. If students decide to attend a Graduation ceremony we also prepare invitation letters for family members and friends who need this letter for their visa application.
ISS has a very multicultural team with colleagues from Australia, Bangladesh, China, Germany, Iran, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam.
The team which also includes several former international students knows very well what challenges international students face during their time at Flinders.
All team members are very committed to assist you so that you can have the best possible study experience.
ISS can be contacted by sending an email or phoning during business hours (Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm AEST).
There are also opportunities to connect with team members during ISS online activities. Enrolled international students receive more information about these opportunities via the ISS Flinders Learning Online (FLO) topic.
