Technical Officer (Clinical Simulation Focus)

Adele works as a Technical Officer in the Health Care Simulation Hub @ Sturt within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Working closely with Academic Staff, Adele and her colleagues provide authentic simulation experiences for the students using equipment ranging from basic task trainers to high fidelity manikins.

Adele is also a Physiotherapist and she continues to work part time within the Occupational Rehabilitation and Community sectors.

Adele has also completed two years of a Bachelor of Midwifery.

Key responsibilities
  • Prepare the simulation environments for clinical simulation experiences
  • Provide technical advice, troubleshooting and assistance to minimise student interruption during simulation experiences
  • Ensure relevant maintenance procedures are followed
  • Maintain adequate stock for clinical simulation experiences
  • Liaise with manufacturers, company representatives and industry partners to ensure product maintenance, support and troubleshooting occurs with minimal student interruption
  • Provide education, advice and instruction to staff on simulation equipment capabilites to ensure effective and safe operation
