My research program focuses on addressing pure and applied research questions relating to the ecology and evolution of native and invasive species and their ability to adapt to new environmental challenges. Specifically, my research program integrates field and laboratory experiments with genomic technologies, geospatial tools, and modelling approaches, to tackle questions relating to species demography, spatial and trophic ecology, and environmental resilience. The program has a particularly strong focus on environmental stress and adaptation research, using both quantitative experimental approaches and correlative genomic methods to gain insights into drivers of selection and patterns of local genetic adaption, the pace at which adaptive phenotypes can evolve and spread through natural populations, and management interventions capable of improving resilience of vulnerable species and ecosystems. This program involves collaborations and partnerships with academics, industry and government agencies, and Traditional Owners groups, with projects geared toward informing the management of threatened, commercially, and culturally important species, as well as pests, and improving biodiversity outcomes and food security in a rapidly changing world.
