Beck O'Hara

Dr Beck O’Hara is a Research Fellow (Digital Health), with the College of Medicine and Public Health, Flinders University. Her research focuses on harnessing technology to support the diagnosis and management of endometriosis.

Beck completed a Bachelor of Business with Honours at the University of the Sunshine Coast where she investigated the psychosocial, marketing and environmental factors associated with young women’s alcohol consumption. She also completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Health Promotion with Curtin University in 2011.

Beck has worked in chronic disease, health policy and health promotion research for more than 15 years for state and local government, non-profit organisations and Universities. She is experienced in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. She has conducted research in regional and remote areas and has contributed to projects investigating experiences of complex conditions like diabetes and with vulnerable population groups including women from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Beck completed her PhD at Monash University where she conducted a mixed-methods study examining women’s experiences of managing endometriosis in Australia and the role of self-management in this disease. Dr O’Hara then moved to Adelaide, where she worked at the Robinson Research Institute, University of Adelaide and was the Project Coordinator (2019-2024) for the EndoZone Project - a co-created digital health platform to empower and support people affected by endometriosis.
