Dr Whitehead is an active Geriatrician and Clinician Manager. Dr Whitehead is currently the Regional Clinical Director of Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative care in the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network and was appointed to this position in 2009. As Regional Clinical Director for Rehabilitation and Aged Care, Dr Whitehead is responsible for the clinical streams of aged care, rehabilitation, stroke medicine and palliative care and allied health at RGH, and also has regional responsibilities for the implementation of the state health care plan for rehabilitation and aged care.
