Dr Kate Pecar

Dr Kate Pecar is a Senior Lecturer (Teaching Specialist) in Medical Education and Evaluation and Quality Assurance Lead in the College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University. She is a registered optometrist with expertise in health professions education, evaluation, quality assurance, professional accreditation and curriculum renewal.

Kate works across multiple health professions disciplines, supporting accreditation, evaluation and continuous improvement activities in medicine, pharmacy, paramedicine, counselling and related health programs. Her expertise includes accreditation strategy, monitoring and reporting, program evaluation, curriculum governance and quality assurance systems.  A distinguishing feature of her work is a cross-disciplinary approach that brings together stakeholders across professions, colleges and organisational levels to address complex educational, accreditation and quality challenges. 

Kate teaches and coordinates topics within Flinders University's postgraduate Clinical Education programs and supervises Master of Clinical Education coursework research projects. She holds a PhD in Medical Education focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health curricula and maintains an active program of scholarship spanning health professions education, evaluation, quality assurance, accreditation, curriculum development and health equity. 

Her academic and clinical practice is grounded in a longstanding commitment to health equity, with particular interests in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and culturally responsive education. She also contributes to initiatives focused on sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, and socially accountable health professions education. 

Kate is available as an Adjunct HRD Supervisor for higher degree research projects in health professions education, program evaluation, educational quality, professional accreditation, curriculum renewal, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health education, and related areas of health equity research.
