Dr. Mia Shepherdson is a General Surgery Registrar at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and an Associate Lecturer at Flinders University.

She completed a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) at Flinders University in 2017, where her research focused on the role of mTOR in regulating miRNA expression and exosome secretion in breast cancer cells. Mia went on to complete a Doctor of Medicine at Flinders University and an internship in 2022. During this time, she also began a Masters of Surgery with the University of Sydney, where her research looked into the incidence and survival rates of young-onset gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma. In 2025, she began General Surgery SET training and remains committed to contributing to both clinical practice and medical research, particularly in the area of cancer biology. As an Associate Lecturer at Flinders University, she has been actively involved in medical education, mentoring students, and delivering case-based tutorials.
