Dr Nichola Knox

Adjunct Academic Status

College of Science and Engineering

Ecologist and natural resource manager specialised in the field of applied remote sensing used to analyse environmental systems. My goal would be to enhance the use, understanding and acceptance of remote sensing technologies in applied ecology, in particular to aid sustainable management of resources.

My current focus is within the field of natural capital accounting, assisting land owners and managers to understand how their management and interventions are impacting their land (and surrounding land).  This analysis enables land managers to adapt management practices and work on improving their sustainable practices.  In essence trying to "Make every hectare count"!

Qualifications

Masters and PhD in the field of Environmental Remote Sensing, obtained from University of Twente, The Netherlands, specialising in the analytics of optical data (both multi and hyperspectral data), used to model the temporal and spatial fluctuations in nutrients within heterogeneous rangelands.

Post Doctorate, University of Florida, in spectral and spatial data analytics in the field of Soil Carbon modelling.

Key responsibilities

Senior environmental data analyst with Downforce Technologies (https://www.downforce.tech/), leading the analytics and science within the APAC region.  Focus on in-depth property analytics, bringing to light the impact of applied management interventions and their role in soil health.
