Born on 14 December 1959 at Nicosia, secondary education at the English School, Nicosia (1972-1974) and university education at the University of London to doctoral level. Also qualified in 1987 as a teacher of English as a foreign language at International House, London, and taught English at Helsinki, Finland, throughout 1988. Since 1990 employed full time at the Cyprus Research Centre, Nicosia, Cyprus, as a reseacher in medieval history of the Lusignan kingdom of Cyprus (1192-1474), promoted to Researcher A in 1996, Senior Researcher in 2009 and appointed Acting Director in April 2024. Due to retire on 01.01.2025. As from 28 October 2024 awarded Full Academic Status as Associate Professor (Academic Level D) in History in the College of Humanities, Flinders University. Married to Ersie Courea (maiden name Parisinou) with two daughers and one son. Interests, walking, swimming, cooking, photography and travel

December 1987, MA Ancient History, University College, University of London (Subject of MA Dissertation, The Role of the Roman Army in Romanising Africa Proconsularis from the First to the Third Centuries AD)

June 1982 BA Honours (Upper Second Division) in Ancient and Medieval History, Kings College, Univesity of London

Vocational Qualifications:

October-November 1987 RSA Cert TEFL (Royal Society of Arts Cetificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language) after an intensive course at International House, Picadilly, London
