Patrice Whitehorne-Smith

Patrice is a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health within the Social Work discipline in the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work. Patrice is from Jamaica and moved to within the past six years. Over the past 18 years, Patrice has worked and practiced extensively in the area of mental health and substance abuse in a variety of roles including clinical practice, teaching and research. She has worked on numerous national and multinational projects within the Americas particularly related to mental health substance abuse treatment and policy. Within the Australian context, Patrice was a part of the research team that lead landscape mapping for the National Autism Strategy as well as the Australasian Autism Research Council (AARC) 2023 Research Priority. She has also taught in several mental health and substance abuse topics in higher education settings.
