I have been working in special education for over 20 years, teaching and leading in diverse school settings throughout both South Australia and New South Wales. This culminated in my principalship of a special school in NSW. Since 2011 I have been a lecturer at Flinders University.

In 2018 I was an invited speaker for the Adelaide Festival of Ideas.
