The Policy Framework establishes the framework for defining, developing and maintaining Flinders policies and procedures.
Policies articulate the principles which underpin University activities and decision-making, and ensure that University activities are carried out in accordance with the University’s values, standards and goals.
Procedures prescribe actions, standards and processes for the implementation of University policies or operational activities.
Guidelines provide additional detail and context on aspects of a University policy or procedures.
Local practices cannot be inconsistent with University-wide policies and procedures, but may be documented at a local level.
The Policy Development and Review Procedures set out the responsibilities and tasks associated with policy development, approval and review.
Officers with the authority to approve the establishment, amendment or rescission of policies and procedures within their area of responsibility.
When you are at the endorsement and approval step (step 5.) of the Policy Review and Development Procedures (PDF), the following officers have authority to approve the establishment, amendment or rescission of policies and procedures in their area of responsibility, with the exception of policies retained for approval by Council or Academic Senate (refer to Schedule A of the Policy Framework (PDF)).
