Description

We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a PhD scholarship to join the Flinders Caring Futures Institute’s Cancer Survivorship Program, that seeks to develop and evaluate caring solutions that improve outcomes for cancer survivors at the individual, system, and policy levels.

Flinders Caring Futures Institute’s Cancer Survivorship Program consists of a multidisciplinary research team (e.g., nursing, exercise physiology, dietetics, psychology, radiation therapy), currently leading some of the largest national implementation trials in cancer survivorship across Australia.

The successful PhD scholars will work within a dynamic group of highly productive researchers representing a wide range of health disciplines within the Cancer Survivorship Group and the Caring Futures Institute more widely.

Benefits

The scholarship includes:

a stipend valued at $33,990* per annum (2024 rate) tax free. Additional paid appointment may be negotiated based on the candidate’s suitability.
The scholarship will be awarded for up to 4 years and may include a research internship of up to 6 months with specific learning outcomes.
a Research Training Program Fee Offset Scholarship to cover tuition fees for Australian Citizens, NZ Citizens and Permanent Residents.
International students will not be eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the award of this scholarship a student must:

Be an Australian citizen; or New Zealand citizen; or have been granted permanent resident status; and
meet PhD admission requirements including: have an Australian Honours degree or equivalent qualification (at least AQF Level 8), including a research component of at least 6 months’ full-time study achieving Distinction (75%) OR including evidence of equivalent research experience, such as a substantial first-author refereed publication or track record as an investigator on a competitive grant; and
be available to commence as a full-time PhD student at Flinders University
have a background in health such as medicine, nursing, allied health, and other relevant disciplines.

o The applicant is successful in being awarded the scholarship

OR

o The applicant confirms in the application for PhD admission that, if they are not successful in being awarded the scholarship, their supervisors agree that the project and enrolment can still proceed, and the applicant agrees to this.

All other applications for PhD admission lodged in line with this scholarship opportunity will not be assessed and will be withdrawn.
