PhD Scholarships Artificial Intelligence and Image Analysis (with some opportunities for the SA Government’s prestigious Industry Doctoral Training Centres Pilots)

The Artificial Intelligence and Image Analysis Research Group of the School of Science and Engineering, Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia has a range of PhD scholarships available. The successful applicants must have solid background in machine learning in image analysis, with an emphasis on deep learning. Multiple PhD projects are available.

Research topics:

• Robust Object Detection, Segmentation, and Identification in Dual Energy CT images (part of the SA Government’s prestigious Industry Doctoral Training Centres Pilots, interactive learning sessions embedded)
• Medical Image Translation: Brain CT to MRI (part of the SA Government’s prestigious Industry Doctoral Training Centres Pilots, interactive learning sessions embedded)
• Deep Neural Networks for Detection and Grading of Cancer on Histopathological Images

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr Gobert Lee and Dr Mariusz Bajger and will collaborate with academic and industrial/clinical collaborators. The successful candidate must be highly self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team. Demonstration of good communication and interpersonal skills is essential.

A range of scholarships will be available for 3 years with the below benefits:

• A stipend of value ranging from AUD 33,000 to 35,000 per annum depending on individual scholarship award
• Possibility of a 6 month extension
• Some scholarships include Industry internship of at least 60 full-time equivalent days

• The successful candidate must meet Flinders University PhD admission requirements
• Some scholarships have a priority for students commencing in the first semester (before July) 2023
