In late June 2023, Flinders University dignitaries travelled to Nankai University in Tianjin, China to celebrate the recent graduates from our three joint Masters programmes.
Our partnership with Nankai University is now in its 23rd year and remains one of our most important international education collaborations.
What began with a Master of Arts in International Relations (Economy and Trade) has grown to include a Master of Hospital Administration and Master of Education (Leadership and Management) with a total of 570 students commencing every year.
The ceremony was particularly special as it was the first time we’ve been able to hold a graduation ceremony since 2019. So, alongside our latest 560 graduates from the class of 2023, we also invited those who had graduated in absentia in 2020, 2021 and 2022. More than two thirds of those earlier cohorts chose to attend the celebration and so our ceremony had almost 1,600 graduates crossing the stage. The fact that so many wanted to have their moment on the stage goes to emphasise just how much our students value this symbolic recognition of their achievement.
These individuals, like all our students and graduates in the last few years, have studied during some of the most trying times in recent memory, and should be applauded for their perseverance and dedication.
The recent graduates join over 7,000 alumni from our Nankai programmes who are now making a difference in their fields. There are now more than 400 hospitals across China being run by Flinders graduates from the Hospital Administration programme, plus another 100+ graduates from other courses in CEO positions in various organisations.
