The Darwin Waterfront Precinct was a buzz on Wednesday, 18 October 2023 as local Flinders graduates and industry leaders joined together to celebrate 30 years of teaching Engineering at Flinders and wish the Flinders Automotive Solar Team (FAST) well on their journey down to Adelaide as part of the 2023 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.
Attendees heard from Professor Alistair Rendell, Vice President and Executive Dean, College of Science and Engineering, Flinders University, Robert Chadwick, Electrification Hub Supervisor, College of Science and Engineering, Flinders University and James Smith, Deputy Dean Rural and Remote Health, Professor of Health & Social Equity, College of Medicine and Public Health, Flinders University.
After an update on the University's prospects and future endeavours for the College, Robert invited guests out to the grassed waterfront to get up close and personal with the FAST car. With battery and cockpit on display, graduates and friends asked questions to the team members about the journey and enjoyed sitting in the driver's seat to experience the feeling of getting behind the wheel.
