The second annual Flinders University Joan Durdin AM Oration was held at the Flinders City Campus on Thursday 9 May 2024.
MC’d by Professor Tiffany Conroy, Deputy Dean for Nursing Leadership and Innovation and guests heard from Margaret (Marg) Martin, Executive Director Clinical Operations for Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, NSW on: “Choosing Your Own Yellow Brick Road - Lessons in Leadership: Making Choices with Courage, Heart and Brains.”
Following Marg’s presentation, a panel discussion centered around Leadership in Nursing took place, moderated by Guy Peacock, Senior Lecturer and Teaching Program Director (Nursing). In addition to Marg Martin, panellists were Andrew Wiley, Director SA Prison Health Service, CAHLN, and Adjunct Associate Professor Jackie Wood, Director, Nursing and Midwifery Professional Practice, Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation, SA Branch.
Participants in the inaugural Nursing Leadership Mentoring Program were also acknowledged and the 2024 program was launched on the evening by Professor Alison Kitson, Vice President and Executive Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
