The Caring Futures Institute envisions a future where the best care is accessible for all across the course of their lives. The institute works to create better care through research, knowledge translation and partnership.

Established in 2019, we have achieved exceptional growth in Flinders and Nursing and Health Sciences research that is delivering impact.

This has been made possible with the support of our External Strategic Advisory Board, our partnerships with people, carers and organisations including our Local Health and Primary Health Networks, Preventative Health SA, together with our exceptional researchers and their vast network of partners and collaborators.

Our ambition in the coming five years is to maintain our strong partnerships and expand our connection with people and our national and international network.

Our Impact

Our research, with our partners is leading to better systems, better care, and better communities for better lives. Our success in research excellence, partnerships and integrated knowledge translation approach is delivering impact by changing how care is valued, delivered and experienced.

Embedding knowledge translation theory, principles, and practices into the foundations of the Institute provides the infrastructure to optimise adoption of research into policy and practice.

Governance

The Caring Futures Institute is governed by a Leadership team whose role is to:

Provide leadership to drive research in the Caring Futures Institute
Oversee the strategic management of the Caring Futures Institute to enable high-quality research and growth
Support the Flinders College of Nursing and Health Sciences purpose of improving lives and empowering communities, enabling better health, and caring in the world through the pursuit of excellence in research and innovation

Caring Futures Institute External Strategic Advisory Board

The Caring Futures Institute Leadership team meets three times each year with members of the External Strategic Advisory Board as a skills and end-user based advisory mechanism that provides strategic advice and recommendations to the Institutes leadership.
