Enhancing clinical nurse leadership for fundamental care

Clinical nurse leaders play a pivotal role in prioritising, role modelling, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality fundamental care. Research shows that nursing leadership can directly and indirectly impact care quality for patients’ fundamental physical, psychosocial, and relational needs.

To understand how best to support clinical nurse leaders to facilitate high-quality fundamental care across different geographical and care contexts.

• Investigate the strategies used by nurse leaders in Australia and internationally to facilitate fundamental care delivery in their clinical area.
• Understand how we can move beyond individualised leadership practice to support a more systematic approach to fundamental care leadership.
