We are nurturing the next generation of doctors and health professionals—from Bedford Park to the Northern Territory.
Our students are making an impact on their communities. We are improving the health and wellbeing of the people around us, whether it's one person at a time or large scale through public policy and initiatives. By studying medicine or a health degree, you can build the skills to make a profound impact on the happiness, health and longevity of people around the world.
Your accelerated undergraduate track to a medical degree.
Our double degree program enables school leavers without an undergraduate degree to pursue a career in medicine. The program provides a high standard of academic, clinical and professional medical training to equip graduates with the skills necessary to take up positions as hospital interns and thereby qualify for medical registration in Australia.
Doctor of Medicine (MD)
Extend on your qualifications.
Flinders University offers graduate entry to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Adelaide and the Northern Territory*, providing an alternative to the traditional pathway from secondary school to an undergraduate medical course. The four-year course enables you to graduate with a medical qualification comparable to a six-year medicine degree. The MD aims to develop the elements of knowledge, understanding and skill central to varied areas of medical practice, producing graduates well prepared to act as hospital interns and with the potential to follow a full range of medical specialties in subsequent training.
Apply to the Rural Entry pathway
Flinders is committed to improving health care in rural and remote communities. There is a severe shortage of doctors in these regions, so we maintain a sub-quota for rural applicants. To be eligible, you must have lived in a rural area for at least 10 years cumulatively or five years consecutively.
Study Medicine in the Northern Territory
Flinders' Northern Territory Medical Program provides training to Flinders University and James Cook University medical students. Curriculum delivery is innovative and uses the latest technologies to ensure our graduates are prepared for the workforce.
We offer a number of innovative clinical placements and the opportunity to undertake an entire year or more of study in a remote area.
