The research-focussed Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) assists you to develop an advanced understanding in an area of medical science, with opportunities to work with world-renowned health and medical researchers.
Honours is a critical step if you are considering undertaking a research higher degree (RHD) and can help your chances of obtaining a RHD scholarship.
An Honours degree will enhance your job prospects by demonstrating key attributes to prospective employers – in particular, your depth of disciplinary knowledge, and your ability to plan and achieve complex goals, work autonomously, and communicate effectively at an advanced level.
We undertake world class and innovative research in a range of areas of health and medicine spanning the molecular basis of disease to the clinical evaluation of treatments in patients and research informing health policy.
You can study honours over one year full time or two years part-time, commencing in either Semester 1 (mid-February) or Semester 2 (late-July).
During this time, you will undertake a significant independent research project under the supervision of an academic staff member who has expertise in the area of the project.
Assessable components of the honours program include a scholarly thesis, seminar presentations, an essay and a research grant proposal.
For specific entry requirements, refer to the course rule.
As a first step, you should contact and meet with an academic staff member of Flinders University or a person with Academic Status to the University who will act as your principal supervisor.
