Honours graduates can demonstrate skills in critical analysis, project management, a passion for their chosen field, and achievement of high academic standards making them capable of thriving in a career in research.
If you have relevant evidence of research skills and aptitude equivalent to an Australian Bachelor Honours Degree that demonstrates your research preparedness to successfully undertake HDR study, this may be considered, on a case-by-case basis. For example;
The College of Education, Psychology and Social Work offers a Graduate Diploma in Research Methods. This course will provide you with an in-depth knowledge of, and skills in, research methods for your chosen discipline area and is a pathway to HDR study.
Direct entry into a PhD is dependent on the strength of your research background. You may be offered enrolment into a Master by Research with an opportunity to transfer to a PhD if you can demonstrate excellent progress.
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers the Master of Health and Clinical Research as a 1.5-year pathway to PhD study.
