When I was younger, I wanted to be an astronaut and a fashion designer at the same time. Later on, I discovered my love for psychology – my main goal is to become a psychologist and raise awareness back home.
The Vice-Chancellor scholarship will give me a huge boost in reaching this goal. Though I’m mostly interested in clinical psychology at the moment, I like to keep my options open and think about other paths of psychology as well.
My favourite subject so far is Psychology: Research methods. I never expected to like it so much, but the subject matter is so easy to digest. Weirdly enough, I've found myself looking forward to the quizzes we have every week.
A lot of my friends are in Australia, because of this, I decided that it would be a great place to study. Out of all the places in Aussie, Adelaide stood out to me because of its English-style architecture and the cultural atmosphere – I’m most looking forward to trying the different types of food in Adelaide.

In Sri Lanka, we have a new-year festival in April, called Avurudu. This time of year is filled with fireworks, traditional games, and special Avurudu food, called kevili. I can’t wait to make Avurudu treats to share with everyone!
When I’m not studying, I love to get in touch with my creative side by trying new things like designing, sculpting, stitching and sewing. My hobbies include singing, dancing, writing, drawing, reading and so much more.
What keeps me going every day is coffee – and the dream of someday being free to do anything I wish; acting, ballet, singing and the like. It also helps that my family gives me constant pep-talks when I’m feeling unmotivated.
I have a Smooth Fox Terrier called Lola. She has a never-ending appetite (for everything, whether edible or inedible), and loves to run head-on at doors, chairs or any other large, stationary objects.
What I love most about her is how she gets really excited and jumps around when you greet her with a ‘good morning!’, regardless of the time of day.
The Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, by J.K Rowling.
If I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to conjure up endless amounts of food.
