This short course is especially suitable for people who are interested in teaching English as second/foreign language online and practicing teachers who would like to apply technology to teaching English in online contexts. It will also appeal to anyone with an interest in becoming an online English language teacher.

Dr. Mai Ngo takes you through the key pedagogical and technological principles, tools and resources needed to teach the four language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing in online contexts.

The major aims of this short course are to:
familiarise participants with general pedagogical and technological principles, tools and resources that can be applied in teaching English as a second/foreign language in online contexts
provide participants with specific principles, tools and resources for teaching the four English language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing in online contexts .
Successful completion of Becoming an Online English Language Teacher comprises of two online quizzes held in week 2 and week 4 of the course (60%; 30% each quiz) and a reflective e-portfolio (40%) at the end of the course.
This short course is the equivalent to one credit point at Flinders University.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Dr. Mai Ngo is a Senior Lecturer in ESOL/TESOL at Flinders University.. Dr. Mai Ngo is an experienced TESOL practitioner and language teacher educator. She has extensive experience developing and teaching ESOL and TESOL topics at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Dr. Mai has taught both face to face and online in both school and university contexts in Vietnam, Japan, Belgium, England, the U.S and Australia.
