HOW YOU COULD CREATE A CAREER BEHIND THE CAMERA
Visual storytelling through video is the driving force behind modern communications. From big screen blockbusters to unique streaming series to beautifully crafted YouTube stories or quirky TikTok gems, video creators are continually expanding the scope of visual storytelling.
Think of every film or series you’ve ever watched. What keeps you hooked and coming back for more? What engages you so much that you binge watch an entire season in a day? What keeps you clicking through episodes on your phone, or keeps your eyes glued to you tablet?
Telling stories through video allows incredible creative scope, deep engagement and memorable experiences, and Flinders Bachelor of Creative Industries (Film and Television) could help kick start your career in this exciting field.
Whether you want to create your own stories, or help others tell theirs, you could have a long and rewarding future in the industry. In association with Channel 44 and Mercury Cinemas, Flinders Bachelor of Creative Industries (Film and Television) has been designed to give you hands-on, industry relevant skills and knowledge.
Of course, a career in visual content creation is not limited to filmmaking. In fact, career options in this field are incredibly broad. You could be a producer, videographer, showrunner, scriptwriter, editor, film programmer, critic or reviewer. You could work in marketing or distribution, or you could be the project manager who brings it all together.
The stories we tell are richer, more immersive and more engaging when told through video, and almost every industry is creating video content to tell their stories. From advertising to training videos to event coverage, social media video and more. You could find yourself working in health or science, tourism or event management, even mining or manufacturing.
Many organisations have their own in-house video teams, and there are opportunities in advertising agencies, production houses, as well as events, marketing and media companies, to name a few.
At Flinders, our industry links will see you exposed to an array of industry experts who will help you to build your network and gain employment long before you graduate.
We offer appointments with our prospective student team to discuss career options, pathways, and course and entry requirements.
The industry is undergoing dramatic change at a rapid pace.
